I mean granted this doesn’t look bad, but why change from something that was working to something you have no idea will work or not. Fortunately it seems like this will work, but jeeze if it ain’t broke don’t fix it right?

With the foundations in realism and real world grounding that the first film established itself, the changes to the suit add to that realism and in turn add to the suspension of disbelief that some guy is running around in a rubber suit and doesn’t get killed his first night out. Their explanation of making the suit easier for the “crime fighter” and making it so that it looks like something out of the real world, it further connects viewers and engages them in the world that they are creating. The changes are things that Batman/Bruce might actually add to the suit if it were reality; extra armor/padding, a cowl that actually lets him move his head. Since, in that world, Bruce and Alfred put the suit together in the first place, they would be willing and able to improve on it based upon experience and “field testing.” Little things like this are nice touches and consciously acceptable, unlike the infamous nipples.
