Jackie Earle Haley is Rorschach

Monday, June 18th, 2007 at 2:45 pm by Jami

Jackie Earle Haley is rumored to have been cast as Rorschach in the live-action adaptation of Watchmen. A quick peak over at IMDB reveals that I haven’t seen anything that he’s been in. If things go the way they should, most of the time he’ll be in his mask kicking the shit out of pretty much everybody. As long as that happens and the mask is all moving ink and all that, I’m just glad they got someone to play Rorschach.

If anyone has a sense if he’s good for the part, drop a comment.

Jackie Earle Haley was a child actor from the 70s who was in films like the original “Bad News Bears” and “Breaking Away.” He’s got that palpable creepiness that many former child actors have when they are grown up, and I think he could work as Rorschach

    John Cusack for Nite Owl!

Creepy former child actor that’s still in the biz? SOLD!

Cusack would be awesome. I’d like to see Ron Perlman as the Comedian. He’s got the giant build and twisted sense of humor.

I think the important thing is that he’s not a pretty boy. Lose the goatie and add a red wig, and I think he’d make a passable Rorschach without his mask on. It also looks like he’s not especially tall, which is another important element in the character’s physical appearance.

And he fits that “random dude that no one really recognizes unless it’s pointed out to them that he is said person and then they insist they always new it was him” quality that Rorschach has without his mask. Just watch, if the movie makes it big, all those people who said “who?” when you said “Jackie Earle Haley” before the movie, will all of a sudden be going “oh I totally know that guy. He did this movie, and he lives next door to me.”

I’m just glad they picked an unknown. That should help.
