Gundam OOOOO Episode I

My twitter bud solkana pointed me to the premier of Gundam Zero Zero Womens.

Part I:

Part II:

Part III:

First impressions? Kind of has that Gundam Wingy feel, four cute little boys driving uber powerful Gundams bent on changing the course of human events which could be good for all you Wingers out there. Wonder who the Char clone will be in this one. For us U.C. purists, it’s probably best to watch Gundam OOOO with the mindset that it’s not aimed at us. In fact, the recent Gundam shows have been completely anti U.C. A bit of a shame, but oh well.

Let’s face it, the kiddies this is aimed for don’t give a shit about Amuro. They want some bad ass mech action. And surprisingly, this first episode delivers in spades. I have to give it up for Gundam Exia. It’s like a Gundam had sex with a ninja and out popped Exia. My initial thoughts on the design were less than positive. That big hole in the middle of its chest doesn’t say Gundam to me at all. But seeing it in action ninjaing the shit out of those other mobile suits was pretty damn sweet. It’s more G-Fighter than war, but it’s not bad.

A little early to tell how the story will shape up. Like I said, the Wing comparisons are impossible to ignore. There are things about it I like. More Exia jutsu please. And the orange Haro is too cute for words. I’ll give it another ten or so before I decide to stick it out.

Jami, got to agree, Exia rocks. But, Haro… ugh. I was able to sit and watch and enjoy it, and not make comparisons to previous incarnations of my favorite war story. Good stuff, thanks for posting it :)

    Meh.

I will watch, wait, and see.

It has three more eps to catch me.

The only design I like is the Amuro Zeta, I mean, orange transforming one. I still don’t like the others at all.

    Ah well.

It seems pretty good so far. I was a little hesitant when I first saw the designs for the new Gundams but after seeing them in action I quite like them, especially Exia.
