Comics on the Crapper

Wednesday, November 28th, 2007 at 1:24 am by Jamie

My rant was inspired by this blog post over at Newsarama’s Blog. But first, let’s enjoy Jet Li kick some epic martial arts ass!

Correction: Apparently, Marvel and DC sent assy “shut down or we’ll shut you down” threats instead of less assy “please take our stuff down” letters. Thanks to scrantinax for the correction.

Update: Marvel has complied with Z-Cult’s policies and sent them a new letter asking Z-Cult to stop serving Marvel comics. Z-Cult has complied. No letter from DC yet. Thanks again to scrnatinax for the follow up!

Minor nit-pick, the letters were “shut down or we’ll shut you down letters” letters not “remove our crap please” letters. Apparently if they were “remove our crap please” letters z-cult would of complied, as they have done in the past apparently.

Ah. Z-cult’s reaction makes a little more sense now. I must have misread that. It’s still illegal of course, but I could see responding poorly to assy “we’ll shut your ass down” threats.

Point agreed on, but no onto more important matters: You have to do your next vlog with your hair down.

The one I’m brandishing around like a weapon is the awesome Sharknife by Corey “Rey” Lewis. I highly recommend. The one under that is the first Trigun book. And on the very bottom is a New Yorker that my wife is reading.

Good post. However it was missing the obligatory intermittent fart noises.

Update: Marvel sent the right letter z-cult is removing the stuff, will take 7 days. DC ain’t sent anythin, but z-cult is now only adding DC stuff to the trackers 30 days after it gets released in stores.
Also wow, I’m mentioned in the edit, cool. That makes me, like, Internet Famous. I’m gonna immediately go and but an appropriate titled T-shirt stating that fact and strut around town looking smug and superior.
    Good times are here again.

Also forgot to say in my initial postsbut the vlogs are quite cool, though much harder to pronounce than blogs.

I don’t have my headphones so I have no idea what you’re saying.

I liked how at the end of the Vlog you gave a little pause and a grimace. Good times.

I like your vlogs, they’re quite entertaining, although for some reason the audio is slightly out of sync for me. I agree with you about the comic torrenting issue, and it’s much the same as the problems facing the recording industry. If you’d like a good read concerning the current state of the recording industry and bittorrenting, but that can also be applied to online comics because the problems are the same, read When Pigs Fly: The Death of OiNK, the Birth of Dissent, and a Brief History of Record Industry Suicide
