Great Balls of FIRE!

How To Make Fire Balls - video powered by Metacafe

Um… This is either the most brilliant thing I’ve ever seen or it’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever seen. Only my great sense of cowardice and fear of hot things prevents me from trying this right now. Well, that and the fire alarm.

If anyone has any experience with these balls of fire, please let me know. If you do indeed try this at home, you should probably have a nice big bucket of water next to you. I foresee many burned hands in the very near future.

Awesome as hell, but how does he not get burned? o_o the blue of the fire should be far hotter than the orange.

The same way you can put lighter fluid on your body (typically hands) and not get burned… I’m sure there’s a scientific explanation for it, but I don’t know exactly what that is. I surmise that it works like this: Anywhere his hand contacts is no longer producing flame, as there is no oxygen source, so flame only comes from the non-contact part of the ball. Just, as he warns, don’t touch the flame itself on top, as it will still burn you.

Oh, also, the ball shouldn’t really heat up at all, so that won’t burn you either because it’s just the fluid burning, and because of the nature of it, does not cause the object it’s burning on the heat up as well

I asked Audrey about doing it and she didn’t slap me. So you might see me without eyebrows on an upcoming vlog!

Not to sound too weird with this, but playing with fire right in your hand is a technique used often in the BDSM world. After doing a bit of research I found the big secret to how one can handle fire without burning themselves.

Alcohol is used typically for this play, but I assume lighter fluid gives the same result with fireballs in this video. It is the vapor that is burning rather than the fluid itself, distancing the actual fire from the source. This would be why the video reminds you that the top part is still hot and that you should handle the bottom of the balls at all times.

You should feel a lot of heat on your skin, but nothing that would burn you. Hope this helps!
