R5 Central

Name and/or Alias: Mike Dent/Gaijinder

Location: RaiDecker (Hovering somewhere in the midwest)

Occupation: Freelance Writer/Podcaster

Website/blog: R5 Central and Justice ACE

Top five favorite movies: Yojimbo, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, Tokyo Drifter, Macross: Do You Remember Love, Versus

Worst movie you’ve ever seen, ever: Right now it’s a tie between Spider-Man 3 and AVPR

Best shitty movie you’ve ever seen: Message from Space - The net has deemed it bad but I feel it is nothing far from some classic 1970’s Toei goodness. Especially with Sonny Chiba in full out battle armor stabbing people through the face with Quasi-Lightsabers

If you were forced to make a remake of a classic film or 80’s property, what would you pick?: Flight of the Navigator or at least a sequel to it - Get some top mecha designers to create some enemies and have Max take them on

Where do you prefer to watch your movies, IMAX, theater, computer, television, or iPod? Theater as it gets you out of the house. Course it sucks when you go to a theater and you get the occasional moron but that’s another gripe

Favorite movie moment: Sanjuro taking out a whole gang’s worth of baddies just to prove a point (Yojimbo)

Top five favorite comics/webcomics: To show my individuality, I shall list the top 5 in both categories! HAH!
COMICS - Dynamo 5, Astonishing X-Men, Cromartie High School, Army of Darkness VS Marvel Zombies, Sam Noir
WEBCOMICS - Conscrew, The Lounge, Least I Could Do, Kamen Rider Hibiki Gaiden: Kansai Division, Mistakes of Youth

Comic/webcomic you’d like to see as a movie: Red Masoleum by Keita Amemiya, some of his best artwork can be found in those pages and I can only imagine how it would turn out on the big screen.

Favorite artist: Kazuhiko Shimamoto

Favorite writer: Tie between Neil Gaiman, Shotaro Ishinomori, and Hirohisa Soda (Main Writer for Liveman and Flashman)

What’s worse, Clone Wars or One More Day? Seeing as how I haven’t read Clone Wars, One More Day. I would have been fine with the retcon if they didn’t have Mary Jane as an overly obvious superheroine.

Floppies, trade paper backs, digital downloads, or webcomics?: Floppies if the title is that damned good, Trades for minis that I know I’m never going to catch or can’t afford to buy the floppies of, no to downloads as it gives you one less reason to go outside, and yes to webcomics as there’s some awesome stuff out there.

Favorite comic moment: Kamen Rider Spirits, Vol. 12 - “The Immortal Man” - At the risk of his life, Shiro Kazami/Kamen Rider V3 takes out an entire rock quarry’s worth of enemies, using all 26 Secrets despite having a damaged (and very much bleeding) henshin belt.

Mac or PC?: Both. PC’s for my writing and audio work, Mac handles all my design stuff.

Henshin device: Creative Labs Zen M MP3 Player - Codename: ZenChanger

Battle cry: AND NOW FOR THE BIG FINISH!

Mighty finisher: “Macker Hand - FINAL SMASH”: Upon the command of “COME, MACKER HAND!” a souped up mechanical gauntlet with a turbine fan and a rip cord launches from my secret base and latches onto my right hand. Pulling the ripcord to start it up, the turbine spins and exhaust fumes shoot out, the gauntlet surging with pure energy before I charge towards the target and let fly with a supercharged full swing backhand (or “Atomic Pimp Slap” as the scientists tend to call it). The sheer force of which, destroys the target upon impact. It can be used with both hands in the Double Smash variant of the same maneuver.

How did you discover the Angry Zen Master?: Word of mouth via the author of Conscrew. I miss the comics though *sniff*
