With 3775 ballots cast, 92.5% of WGA guild members voted to end the strike February 12. The final vote to ratify the tentative three-year contract will take place on February 25. The contract includes annual pay raises of 3% to 3.5% and residuals for new media content. WGA members can go back to work starting today.

In a comment that I will now take completely out of context (since I wasn’t there), CBS president Leslie Moonves said that although the strike was disruptive, it had very little effect on the studio:

Frankly, revenues were not down a lot, and costs were down a lot. So financially, there wasn’t a lot of pain inflicted on CBS Corp. But I believe in this business, and this business is good when we’re in full-scale production.

Ouch. Why throw that dig in there when everyone is so happy to get back to work? I suspected as much, but still, that seemed a little snarky.

Nelly called me the other night with some details on shows that are returning at the end of the month. Didn’t care about most of them, but word is that Battlestar Galactica will return April 4 with a split final season. They’ll run the first ten or so episodes this year and finish out the final episodes next year. And there’s some cock up with Scrubs. Audrey and I will have to catch BSG on NetFlicks anyway since we got rid of our cable so it sucks to have to wait even that much longer to finish BSG. But it’s certainly better than waiting for years and years.

So there you have it. The writers are free to return to assault our good senses with lame shit like Cavemen and awesome shit like BSG.
