Pope John V, “Thou Shalt Not Remake Short Ciruit!”

Johnny 5

My initial instinct is to bash the shit out of the news that Dimension Films is remaking Short Circuit. But in light of the Chipmunks thing, I will attempt to be nice.

Wow. This is great. I was just thinking to myself that I hadn’t seen Short Circuit in forever and how it would be nice to see a remake instead of taking up one of my Netflicks spots to rent the original. Yeah, I really want to pay fifteen dollars to see a shiny new interpretation of Johnny 5. I…

No! Fuck this!

This is the dumbest fucking idea in the history of dumb fuck ideas! No good can come of this, ever! Besides, Wall-E is essentially mini Johnny 5. We don’t need a new one. We especially don’t need a tricked out, Asimo, CG robot. And since Short Circuit, the sentient robot angle has been beaten to death. Data, Thirty of D (a.k.a. Seven of Nine), Bicentennial Man, A.I., I Robot, the millionth re-release of Blade Runner, and on and on and on. What the fuck else is there to say?

No reassemble Stephanie! Leave Johnny 5 well the fuck alone!

Thanks again to Nelly for the bad news.

I’m still waiting for a Gilligan’s Island remake on the big screen.

We have to nuke Hollywood from orbit, it’s the only way to be sure.

Yeah agreed… Remakes have gone rampant. Some are good, but most often than not it’s just a crappy dumbed down sham of an original.

They should remake bad films to see if they’ll do better. Not an original idea, but would have an interesting outcome.
