Skynet Develops Real Life Psycommu System

Friday, April 18th, 2008 at 4:23 pm by Jami

Amuro Nu Gundam

No longer content to wait for the human race to develop New Type abilities, Researches at Skynet front Osaka University are developing a real life Psycommu System (Amuro pilots the RX-93 Nu Gundam with the Psycommu System) that controls robotic body parts through the power of the mind. Researches are hoping to enlist the aid of patients already scheduled for brain surgery to place electrodes on their brain meats to record the electric activity associated with moving their limbs. They hope to use that data to help them create an interface that would allow patients to control robotic limbs in real-time with their brain meats.

Well played, Skynet. By pretending this research is intended to help the injured and elderly, you have free reign to test the limits of our brain meats. Pretty clever.

Gundam? Psycommu System? What the hell are you talking about? Don’t you mean the cyberjack system from the e-frames in ExoSquad? :P

Though, yeah, who really trusts any company called SkyNet?

For the gundam reference, check Char’s Counter Attack for the Psycommu System, or even Zeta Gundam anime for that giant Gundam piloted by Four.

But yeah, we REALLY need to get some EMPs rolling into our homes to save ourselves from the Skynet take over.

They aren’t the only ones working on this type of system. Two companies in Canada and Johns Hopkins University (I think) are working on similar systems to be used in conjunction with artificial limbs. Maybe we’ll have a few Majors before SkyNet rises up to destroy us all.

    *sigh*

I’m thinking I should take back my desire for a cyber brain and cyborg suit.
Or perhaps a secret society of psychics will rise up and take back the world from the technological menace.

You know for a fact at least one of the test subjects will be accidently gifted with the psychic ability to control all machines and become either a) the worlds first superhero and only hope of foighting off an Alien invasion (which will coincidently arrive) or b) become the worlds first super villain, forcing the government to try and recreate the fluke to empower someone to fight him, possibly with a crew of awesome job-specific robots.

    It WILL happen.
