I don't think she did it as being "inspired" by a Stephen King book. She was just drunk and high on x-tasy, and since it was about 20 years after the fact I don't think Stephen King was writing about this event. A woman hit a guy with her car and she never helped him, kept driving and the guy was stuck on the grill/part way under the car. She actually tried to repeatedly kill him up until she got home and left him in the garage. It was an overtwisted version (or precursor?
