University of Maryland Gamers Orchestra Burninates UMD

Monday, May 12th, 2008 at 9:27 am by Jami

If you missed out on the NSO’s performance of Video Games Live, you can check out the University of Maryland’s Gamer Symphony Orchestra’s Spring 2008 concert tomorrow night at 7:30pm in the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center’s Kay Theater. This brings a happy tear to my eye. It’s nice to see students from my alma matter joining together to perform feats of awesome. I just wish we had such nerd chi when my brother and I went to UMD.

The show is free for all. They also have a YouTube channel of some of their past performances. The UMGSO also hosts charity death match events so if you’re a gamer near College Park, MD, you might want to check them out.

Thanks to reader and UMGSO member Brian Kwong for the heads up. And good luck with the show!

That was my least favorite rendition of Trogdor! I think I’ve ever heard. They did an ok job at the music, but they really should have just left it as an instrumental and not had that guy talking over it.
I did like how they started with “O-Fortuna” in the beginning.
