It's average at best, and the only reason people jump up and down over it is because it was made by Gainax, and has its manlyness set to steroids. I watched this anime, and I had high expectations because of the hype. What I get is a bucket of <a href="http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=gar" rel="nofollow">gar</a> that goes political half way through, only to quickly return to the same ridiculous shit it started off with.
