The Righteous Bludgeoning of Ong Bak 2

Tuesday, June 17th, 2008 at 3:47 pm by Jami

Reader Jasper Mangus sent along this trailer for Tony Jaa’s directorial debut, Ong Bak 2! Excuse me while I change the pants.

*uhhhhnnn…*

Okay then. The Twitch player is a bit annoying. Press play, pause it, step away for a bit, and then return for some fucking awesome chop socky! Seriously, it’s martial arts porn!

Ong Bak 2 is a sequel in name only (which is fine by me cause honestly, we didn’t love the first one for the plot). Jaa stars as an orphan rescued and raised by martial artists of different disciplines who has trained his whole life to unite the disparate arts into one ultimate martial art.

Yeah, who cares. Tony Jaa. Kicking ass. Flying knee. I’m fucking there!

That dude seriously needs to do the Hollywood circuit… I want to see like four movies a year from him, not one every two or three!!!

Man, and I’d love to see him in the same movie as Jet Li…

I seriously believe tony jaa did that elephant bit without any cg, or wirework. He is that awsome. Fuck chuck norris! Tony will kick his ass any day.

1 tiny niggle, which doesnt matter anyway but the film looks like a period piece and looks more spectacular for it, but this looks like it has absolutely no relation to ong bak 1.
tut. talk about capitalising on a movie franchise…
You dont think tony jaa can get films on his owns…?

    @ Devin -

Dear Lord, I hope he doesn’t come to Hollywood. They turned Jackie Chan into a clown, Jet Li into a Triad leader, and Chow Yun Fat into a pirate that lusts after white girls. The only thing that Tony Jaa would be cast as would be “another extra that got owned by Sylvester Stallone.”

I like the idea of the martial arts masters of Asia uniting under one roof, though.

yeah but the thought of Jaa teaming up with, say, Jason Statham…

    :D

And I thought Jet Li was good in Unleashed… he’s not ALWAYS a triad leader ;)

Looks like sex to me. I didn’t care for the first Ong Bok since the fighting got boring after it starting getting repetitive (no variety in choreography at all) but this… this looks good. Albeit they certainly showed a lot of the film in this trailer.

This looks awesome and I can’t wait for it to come out.

The one thing that annoys me about movie trailers now-a-days is that they are way too long. I would have rather seen most of that in the cinema than sitting here right now.

    Still, some awesome ass kicking/annihiliation.

Pretty amazing, particularly the elephant run. I’ve never seen that sword sequence where the guy is wielding two swords basically as one, that was cool.

I definitely don’t want to see him go Hollywood. Yeah, four a year from him would be cool, but the studio heads would turn them into utter crap.

It’ll be interesting to see. I’m sure we won’t get it theatrically here, so I’ll have to wait for DVD.

I agree i didn’t think much of the first one plot. The fighting seens were ok.Probably the best part was the chase. Was pretty funny to.This one seem to be more in line with a marshal art movie rather then a movie with marshal art in it and i didn’t need a introduction in to the fact muey tai is a hardcore fighting style. From what i hear he don’t want to do a film that don’t portray Taiwan in it.So he might not do a Hollywood movie.Side note.Actually Jackie Chan all ways play a clown to some respect in the u.s. or china cinema but your right i cant think of another Jet Li movie where he wasn’t related to the triad in the state cinema.
