Exia on Sci Fi

Exia
Exia, gets those hard-to-reach places in the shower!

AZM regular Kevin Bahrt sends word that Sci Fi channel will air Gundam OO starting in November. Two episodes will run each week for a 13 week run.

The question is, does America give two shits about Gundam? I know I do. But the franchise really hasn’t reached a significant US audience, at least not significant enough to keep the toys on the shelves. Hopefully, Sci Fi won’t make the mistake that Cartoon Network did with Seed and edit out all the good shit. What little I’ve seen of Gundam OO will certainly appeal to the action crowd. And if most US Gundam fans think of Wing as classic Gundam (*shudder*), OO should be right up their alley.

So, will we see Lockon Statos cosplay next con season? Or is Gundam a lost cause for the US?

I don’t think Gundam is a lost cause in the US, I just think that it hasn’t been handled right since Gundam SEED aired. Gundam Wing, 08th MS Team, and even G Gundam did fairly well in their time on TV, so its not as though people aren’t receptive to it.

I think SciFi is probably a more fitting place for Gundam, but they should probably do a good bit of advertising, especially when Naruto is on and on Adult Swim.

Also, from what I understand Bandai did all the dumb edits, and alterations in SEED, not CN.

Ah, well then double dumb ass on Bandai. SEED probably would have been as big as Wing if they just let it alone.

Yeah, SEED was very good. Luckily they never aired SEED Destiny (at least not that I remember them airing it.)

They never aired Seed Destiny. I like the designs a little better in Destiny but the way they tried to reuse footage made it look like shit. I’ll accept a reused transformation or launch sequence, hell most of that is the same anyway, but when it comes to the action recycling is bad for business. I got enough of that in DBZ thank you very much.

And I still think that’s a weird place to mount the beam sabers.

Kevin, that not one of his beam sabers, his sabers are on the his side skirt or leg where most gundams have then, the ones on shoulder are the beam throwing knife. Also wasn’t Seed Destiny air together with Seed on CN/AS?
…. +10 xp to geek, Gene has reach lvl 5!…. sry

If OO is going to be on Sci-Fi Mon late night, the only editing I see them do for that is the blurring of happy-fun-bags. So OO should be aired untouched for the most part.

No it is one of the beam sabers. Exia has to beam daggers mounted on the rear skirt, two hard blades on the side skirts and the two beam sabers mounted behind the arms. That shot is from the first episode where Exia starts slicing off bits of the teal flying model and was not equipped with any blades but the large arm blade and the two beam sabers at that point. And Seed Destiny was never aired in the US ’cause Seed didn’t do well. And the only really good part was some of the action shots. But the pink explosions sort of dulled it down.
