Leaked TR2N Trailer

TR2N

So yes, TR2N. I have mixed feelings on this. And after seeing the leaked trailer footage from Comic Con that AZM Allstar Tyler Anderson sent over, my feelings remain mixed.

The first one was absolutely brilliant and quite a bit ahead of its time. A sequel both worries and excites me. The return of the MCP is almost a must and a new version of Tron is certainly likely. The danger is turning it into a CG fest of Lightcycles and Recognizers. Don’t get me wrong. Lightcycles are an absolute must and they look fucking AWESOME in this trailer (gods I wish I was there). But the film must tell a compelling story. Tron stands the test of time. It’s still as relevant and fresh as it ever was and they did it with primitive polygons and hand painting body suits. Tron 2.0 has to be just as strong, kick ass before the first polygon is modeled, for it to be a worthy successor. Here’s hoping.

CGI or no CGI. Just as long as the movie kicks ass, who cares how it was made.

Please, don’t call it Tron 2.0, that was a video game by Monolith (my favorite developer, who also created Fear, No One Lives Forever, Blood, Condemned and Shogo among others).

The graphical and audial (?) design of the game was amazing but finding your way around the place was frellin’ annoying as everything looked alike. They didn’t really manage to take advantage of the possibilities the Tron world gives either. There’s quite a bit of quirky stuff in the game and a good load of original gameplay ideas, but it was still an FPS at heart and it just got a bit stale after you’re over the initial wow-factor.

Funnily enough Tron 2.0 contains a 3d representation of Rebecca Romijn Stamos who also portrays Mystique in the X-movies.
