Captain Jack Nigma?

Jack Sparrow

Hollyscoop is reporting that Johnny Depp will play Edward Nigma in the next Bat flick along with Philip Seymour Hoffman as the Penguin. Hmmm…

I think Riddler is definitely the way to go and I believe Depp could turn in quite a moving performance. I think Hoffman is quite a good actor, but Penguin? Not so sure about this. No telling when the next one will go into production, but if this rumor turns out to be true, the next Batman flick could be quite mad. Kind of worried that there’s no rumor of a strong female lead, but I guess movie Gotham is an old boys club.

Hoffman may not be the first choice some some but it’s a win for me. I love me some PSH!
Depp is tired. He needs to leave Burton alone. This could be a great turning point for that to happen.

Yeah, I’m a fan of the PSH. Not so much the Penguin. But I think PSH could bring something unique to the role. Here’s hoping!

And have fun in Connecticut you bastard!

Not gonna happen. Nolan has not been interested in the penguin thus far, why would he be now? Not to mention, I’m sorry to say but penguin is a pretty lame villain. As for riddler… eh… I don’t really see that either.

I don’t know, both of these villains seem a little over done in the series and too sensational. I hope they don’t make them too campy and stick to the gritty, realistic style. We’ll have to wait and see.

There’s no reason for the penguin, but I could definitely see another Long Halloween-type movie where Batz is racing around town to try and stop the next murder or destruction and the Riddler is always one step ahead. Like I said before in another post, it could potentially be a platform for Batman to really flaunt his detective skills.

Why Penguin though? Of all the villains in Batman’s rogues gallery? **sigh** I think the Hush storyline would make a great bookend to Chris Nolan’s Bat trilogy…

This is the perfect time for Harley, now that Joker’s in jail they can meat and he can drive her into an insane rampage. She shouldn’t be a strategist like the Joker was, always one step ahead, but more of schizophrenic, popping up, terrifying people and then just disappearing after turning a corner only to pop up in another part of Gotham, never being there when Bats shows up but just so agonizingly close. But honestly, I’d rather not see any more of that “will he cross the line or won’t he” cause that’s what this movie was about. Begins was about his place, Knight was about marking the line that he wouldn’t cross, the next one can be about how Gotham reacts to someone thought to be a vigilante killer. Before he wasn’t a killer, you could make the argument that you were actually safer with the Bat than you were with the cops, Bats would always bring you in, never shoot you, now you don’t know.

I don’t know - Dark Knight is going to be a hard movie to top. The casting shows some promise - Johnny Depp is a great actor. Depp’s been able to portray a wide range of characters, from Scissorhands to Willy Wonka. Hoffman’s talents can be traced back to The Graduate, so I guess his casting is not such a bad thing.

I’m just worried about a Spiderman Syndrome. You know, first movie’s great, second movie’s much better, third is CRAP. My spidey senses are tingling, because Dark Knight has set some pretty high standards. Hell, look here:

    And that’s never happened before.

It all depends on how he plays the penguin I mean everyone thought Heath ledger as the joker was a stupid idea. And what about two-face it didnt seem like he was totally out of the picture.
