Amuro Rey Wants You For The Gundam Academy

Alright, already! Enough of this election shit. It’s GUNDAM WEDNESDAY!
This was sent to me by AZM Allies Kensei Dave, Solkana, and Wayne W. Academics from some of Japan’s highest regarded universities will come together next year as the “virtual faculty” of Gundam Academy. The aim of Gundam Academy is to develop technologies based on the fictional universe of Yoshiyuki Tomino’s Mobile Suit Gundam. Experts in the fields of astrophysics, engineering, anthropology, medicine, linguistics, and urban planning will work to develop practical applications of some of Gundam’s more fanciful technologies. Says Osaka Prefectural University professor of urban planning and architecture Shinya Hashizume:
Gundam presents the reader with many challenges that we will encounter. It is vital to begin conducting research into these. Scientific research in Japan desperately needs a flow of new ideas.
University of Tokyo professor of astronautics Shinich Nakasuka says:
Studying fiction is an excellent way to get ideas about the future. Scientists often restrict their way of thinking to what they factually know. The comic shows how ordinary people without much deep scientific knowledge can come up with very good ideas.
When the call for mobile suit pilots goes out, I’m so there! I also hope they develop a real life Haro. I really want a little floating ball squeaking my name. “Jami-des! Jami-des!” Not sure how I would feel about moving to a colony. Too many assholes trying to drop them on earth. Really looking forward to how far Gundam Academy will develop the technologies of the show.
