Jackie Chan, Too Violent For China?

Jackie Chan

When I think Jackie Chan, I think bloody, violent, righteous bludgeoning.

Oh wait, no I don’t. I think goofy, clever, acrobatic ass kicking. Turns out I was wrong all this time.

AZM Ally Greg (who has a spiffy new layout, btw) sent along the news that Jackie’s newest film, Shinjuku Incident, is too bloody for Chinese censors. China lacks a movie rating system, but does have a censorship board. But fear not. Neither Jackie Chan nor director Derek Yee will not bow to pressures to cut the violence. Shinjuku Incident will open on April 2 in Hong Kong and Southeast Asia and May 1 in Japan with bloody hand chopping in tact.
