Augmented Reality Game Seems Fun For Like Five Minutes

AZM Ally Mike of Grumpybear Design sent along this demo of ARhrrrr, an “augmented reality” created by the Georgia Tech Augmented Environments Lab and the Savannah College of Art and Design. There’s a lot of potential for this type of interface, but I really think a helicopter-perspective zombie shooter is a poor demonstration of the technology. I would love to have a little virtual pet monster on my desktop that I could interact with. Maybe a virtual paper football game that I could play on my own or battle chess or virtual poker or maybe some kind of rhythm game. OH! I’d love to see little patapons crawling all over my desk. I think it could be a lot of fun!
