World War Robot

World War Robot

I have been meaning to collect more of Ashley Wood’s work. There so much energy in his lines and brush strokes. I’ve always wanted to see what it would look like animated. And of course, he makes some truly awesome robots.

I doubt very much that we’ll get to see his paintings animated, but a live action movie produced by Jerry Bruckheimer will probably be pretty damn close. Bruckheimer grabbed the film rights to World War Robot, written and conceived By Ashley Wood and T P Louise and published through IDW. WWR is a war diary documenting the epic battle between robots and humans that spans Earth, the moon, and Mars. I really need to pick this up. The book itself is so awesome that it’s 1ft x1ft!

I really hope that the effects group in charge of bringing the robots to life follows Wood’s designs as closely as possible. His robots are pretty unique and read well from a aesthetic point of view. If they clutter the robots with lots of moving parts and trinkets and gribble that’ll ruin the entire feel of the source material. All I really want to see is giant Ashley Wood robots stomping on shit. If Bruckheimer can make that happen, I’m a happy panda.
