Peter Berg Sucks Dune Dry
Seriously? Seriously? No, seriously? Ugh.
Because no one can agree on whether or not David Lynch’s Dune was any good or whether or not SKIFY’s mini series was any better, director Peter Berg wants to suck the last bits of moisture out of this series and spew forth yet another filmed adaptation of Dune. Let’s get some quotes:
I think I had a much more different experience, I think, with the book than David Lynch did. To me, I think my interpretation will feel significantly different from that and the [Syfy] Channel miniseries that aired. I have a different experience than both of those filmmakers did.
[The book] was much more muscular and adventurous, more violent and possibly even a little bit more fun. I think those are all elements of my experience of the book that can be brought in without offending the die-hard fans of the Bene Gesserit and Kwisatz Haderach. There’s a more dynamic film to be made.
Ah yes, muscular fun. ‘Cause, you know, when I think Paul Muad’Dib, I think of a good natured, muscle bound, fun-loving guy! Bleh.
Man, we need another Dune movie like we need another special edition of Blade Runner. Just get over it already and do one of the other books! There’s a whole fucking series to bleed dry. Come on, man, how about God Emperor of Dune? It’s got a giant man-sandworm in it! That’s fucking cool! Everyone wants to see a giant man-sandworm! Fucking ILM or Weta Digital would love to make a CG man-sandworm! Give us a goddamn man-sandworm!
