Muppets Take Queen
Tuesday, December 1st, 2009 at 9:54 am by JamieAngry Zen Minions Ward McCaul and Mark Ennis sent me the Muppets version of Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody.” It is, without a doubt, the best Queen cover I have ever seen.
“Bohemian Rhapsody” opened my ears up to a lot of different music that I had never bothered with until I heard that song. Up until then, most of my music could be found on the local oldies station. My brother and I know all the lyrics to every song ever played on what used to be Oldies 100 here in D.C. But in high school when I saw Wayne’s World and that opening sequence with the boys rocking out to Queen, I had to hear more. I picked up a Best Of Queen cassette tape at the Sam Goodie and my music exploration began. From Queen I went to Metallica when one of my friends gave me their entire collection up until the Black album because he was getting into Ska. From there I picked up some Megadeth and from Megadeth I went to Body Count which lead to Ice Cube which lead to NWA which lead to all sorts of random shit that has forever scarred my brain and my vocabulary.
So, all this to say, thank you Queen for rocking so fucking hard. And thank you Muppets for paying tribute to one of the greatest bands in music history.
