For all you steampunk lovers *cough* Morlock *cough* out there, Perpetual Steam Punk is a forthcoming webseries directed by Henshin Justice Unlimited moderator VengeanceGod set in an alternate version of San Francisco. The series bills itself as “a dance-based, steampunk-themed” web series. Our characters quest for the perpetual motion machine.

Love the costumes. Love the production values. Looks like it’ll be a fun series. No word on launch date, but I’ll be sure to let you know when it hits.

True story: I used to be a fan of Steampunk back before people thought that sticking watch parts on a top hat made it Steampunk. Steampunk’s about acheiving incredible feats of modern science with steam and gear powered technology. It has ZILCH to do with aesthetics and everything to do with function. Why is that gear there? Unless a Steampunk Go-Go-Gadget fucking helicopter’s coming out of your hat it does not belong there.

Gears by themselves are not Steampunk. Gears that function to propel little gearbox critters named TEX-T units to deliver personal messages IS FUCKING STEAMPUNK. A gear ring is not. It is for the fake gothlings who like to pretend they’re part of something cool.

I has an opinion on this matter and takeit quite seriously, as you can plainly see. I USED TO BE a fan of Steampunk Pre-Arcanum, before it became the uniform of pseudo techno-goths and Makers. I haz a bitterness. :)

There’s a comic premise in there somewhere. Damn I wish I had a writing habit.
