Deep Fried Turkey is Good Goddamn Eats!

Thursday, December 24th, 2009 at 11:11 am by Jamie

One of these days, I will fry a whole goddamn turkey. Of course, this day is not that day. And as long as I live in a condo, that day will be far far away. But some tasty day, I will fry the shit out of a turkey! Alton Brown makes everything look deliciously easy. So if turkey is on your menu tonight or tomorrow night and you want to fry that fucker dead in the eye, trust in Alton.

Not gonna be around a computer tomorrow folks so enjoy your holidays. I’ll see ya Monday!

We’ve done it before, I don’t think its anything special taste-wise and the turkey isn’t as good after a day or so compared to baked.

I think if you’re feeding a lot of people and you want to do it in short order, then frying is the way to go. Some folks I know swear by it. If you really want to do it, wait for something like a family reunion or another big party and do it then. Or just hold a really big Thanksgiving or Christmas party.

Food Network reruns his deep-fried turkey episode every November. I had it a couple of years ago at my sister’s then-boyfriend’s house. It was moist, but he injected stuff in to it which really didn’t do it any favors.

The best turkey result that I’ve ever had is brining, again, based on a Good Eats ep.

Yeah, It’s fairly agreed upon that a well roasted turkey tastes and lasts longer then a well fried one. That said, Alton Brown probably makes a mean fried turkey. I agree with Wayne, give brining a try. The turkeys that I had brined beforehand, were hands down, the best turkey that has ever plopped down on my family’s plates.
