For a limited time, Bandai Channel is streaming the first seven minutes of Gundam Unicorn in English. There’s a lot of exposition and set up and some headscratching on my part, but the shit kicks into high gear at around the six minute mark. That’s when Neo Zeon ace pilot Marida Cruz jumps in her Kshatriya and fucking dominates a whole bunch of Jegans. Goddamn, it’s a gorgeous Mobile Suit battle. I love the little details when they focus on Marida’s hand as she taps the buttons on the controls. So amazing. This is what the UC is all about!

As badass as the Kshatriya is, I think it’s a tad overpowered. I mean, the Jegans can’t do shit against it. Marida cuts through them like butter. Also, why haven’t the Feddies built suits with Funnels. Oh sure, Amuro gets Funnels in his RX-93 Nu Gundam, but the Jegans? They just get shitty missiles. I’m pretty sure the Unicorn will be just as overpowered as the Kshatriya so it’ll all probably even out in the end. But whatever, the battle is beautiful. I’m still not pleased with the pricing scheme, but Unicorn looks fucking fantastic. A nice big geeky love letter to the UC.
