Zeta Puuuunch!

Gundam Wednesday is back!

Thanks to Crunchy Roll, I’m catching up with Zeta Gundam. I’m only up to episode 16 which isn’t even halfway done, but already it’s becoming one of my very favorite UC series. There are a few episodes that move fairly slowly. It seems to take forever for the A.E.U.G. to find a shuttle to send Quatro back in to space. Also, the names are freaking ridiculous. Quatro Bajeena? Really? And the hair. Oh the big ass 80′s hair. But I’ve loved every episode. There’s so much attention to detail that really ground the series in reality. Well, as real as giant robots can get.

What impresses me the most is the number of female mobile suit pilots. It seems that a lot of the newer Gundam alternate universes have forgotten that ladies can be badass, too. I’m constantly impressed with the diverse mix of women and men on the Titan’s side. I can’t wait for Hamman Karn to show up.

So if you’re missing some Zeta in your life like I was, I highly recommend checking it out for free on the Crunchy Roll while you still can. They’ve got the English dub over at the YouTubes, but Char just doesn’t sound like Char in English.

Oh man, Zeta is so long. And unlike Turn A or V Gundam that followed, the ending didn’t get all bizzaro. As for female pilots, Wing had a number of them and I think Gundam V had the most (an entire squad of female gundam pilots). Sadly Turn A only had 2.5 female pilots.

Also with Zeta and that clip, it’s really the first and only time that Captain Bright gets mad enough to punch people.

And don’t forget; if you thought Zeta was long, Double Zeta is longer.
