I’m so very excited from Pixar’s Brave. It looks absolutely fantastic! I also can’t stop thinking that Amy Pond is somehow directly descended from Merida.
There was a cool series at Wired about a month ago that analyzed the archery in the three movies containing archery that are coming out this year. The writer is an instructor, so knows his stuff. He had nothing but bile for Avengers, says Hawkeye sucks in so many ways that it’s a good thing his arrows are animated to hit his targets, because that’s the only way they would. He praised Hunger Games, said the girl must have worked pretty hard to shoot the way she did. Brave he held up as a good example of how not to do archery when the various contestants shoot for the princess’ hand.
I don’t doubt that Brave will be a nice heartwarming story, but I always grow hesitant whenever ANY movie shows as much of it as we just saw in that trailer. Except for the climax of the movie and maybe a few jokes, I feel like I’ve already seen the movie.
