Destiny Awaits

I am completely biased when it comes to Bungie.  My brother has worked there since the beginning of the Halo franchise so I’ve been a stupid huge fan since the original Halo.  Since they left Microsoft, I’ve been wondering with great anticipation what the next big thing would be.  Even without my biased opinion, Halo was pretty damn huge when it dropped.  Can lightening strike twice?
This viddoc for Destiny was released on Sunday.  There’s not a whole lot of gameplay footage, but that concept art makes my eyes drool.  I also really like the back story.  From what I’ve gathered reading reports from The Penny Arcade Report and Kotaku, Destiny sounds like it combines a lot of bits from all sorts of gaming genres (fps, mmo, social) into one massive package.  As it’s a persistent world, you’ll need to be online to play.  But there’s no Destiny subscription fee (I hope I don’t need Gold to play it. I don’t really play multiplayer anything).  It will launch on PS3 and 360 with a PC version to come later.
This is pretty silly, but I’m kind of looking forward to the character customization.  I want to see how close I can get to designing a Kamen Rider so I can play Destiny as Ichigo or Kuuga or some futuristic looking version of a Rider.
There’s a lot we still don’t know, but seeing as how this thing is going to unfold over ten years, we’ll just have to get used to that.  I can’t wait.  I’ll be following Destiny’s progress just like all the other Bungie fans.
