The show’s so good, it gets its own fraking category!

Baltar Has a Posse

Tuesday, May 6th, 2008 at 9:17 am by Jami

In all my excitement about creepy burn victims, I totally forgot to post last week’s BSG! This is the one minute recap an not the entire episode. Figure it’s easier to digest on the blog than sit here for an hour.

Baltar and Tori are at it again. The number of women he can choose from seems to grow from episode to episode and though there are a few token guys in there, looks like the women are more ready to follow the one true god than then men of Galactica. For once, I think Baltar is honestly being sincere. No agenda, no self-preservation, I think he truly believes in what he’s saying. I loved the part with him apologizing to Chief Tyrol.

Starbuck. Worst. Captain. Ever. When Helo stands against you, you know you’ve completely fraked up. For his part, Helo vouched for her at ever possible turn and Kara threw it in his face. Just a matter of time before he got fed up with that. They would probably learn a lot by joining up with that damaged Basestar, but with the entire crew against Kara, I doubt that’ll happen.

So if Kara is not the twelfth Cylon, what is she? Clearly she’s come back a changed woman. But maybe she’s always been a little off. Has she been chosen by a higher power, is some kind of hybrid, or something else entirely?

Baltar Still Has a Harem and a Jesus Complex

Monday, April 28th, 2008 at 9:39 am by Jami

No real fraking in this episode. The streak is broken!

This was the first episode that I felt fairly meh about. Sure, lots of deep character development. Tori creepily revels in her new self awareness of being a Cylon. Tigh looks to the captured Six for answers. Tyrol starts to break down and lashes out at everyone around him. Lee continues to stick in Roslin’s craw. And Baltar is well on his way to becoming a martyr for the one true god. Lots of self loathing and emo to go around.

There was a random insert shot of Starbuck asleep at her desk with Anders walking up to her and thats all we get from the quest for Earth subplot. Why bother with the insert if you’re not going to do anything with it?

Overall, a very meh episode, a mehpisode if you will. Baltar’s one god sex cult is s little predictable. I wouldn’t be terribly surprised to see him martyred off before season’s end. Lee inspiring the Quorum to check and balance Roslin’s authority is interesting in light of today’s political climate. Lee for president perhaps? I’m actually a little more interested in the Cylon’s internal conflict than I am with the human fleet.

Ah well. Still digging the show. Not every episode has to be a total winner.

Starbuck Likes it Rough

Monday, April 21st, 2008 at 12:34 pm by Jami

The lesson’s of this week’s Battlestar Galactica? Never marry a fraking Cylon. Always jump your regeneration ship with you. Say “please” when asking a Cylon Centurion to do anything. And never trust a President who over classifies orders.

Still loving every fraking bit of the show. And thus far, we’re three for three for hot space nookie. Baltar’s wang got some rest this week, but Starbuck got Anders riled up enough to take her somewhat forcefully. Geez. Give her her own ship and she’s still fraking nuts!

Baltar Fraks So Good, Makes Cylon Ladies Cry

Monday, April 14th, 2008 at 8:33 pm by Jami

Seriously, if you took all the clips of Baltar getting it on over the course of all four seasons, you’d have a feature length soft-core porn.

I love the way the characters have evolved. Only two shows in and this season has that epic feeling of doom that every final season should. I know fans are clamoring for BSG movies, whether feature films or made for tele, but I’m hoping they go out with a bang, answer lots of our questions, and leave some more for us to spend hours speculating.

Baltar Has a Harem!

Monday, April 7th, 2008 at 3:16 pm by Jami

Apparently, the one true God keeps a bucket of hot chicks lying around so he can throw them at Baltar to convince him of God’s awesomeness. None can resist divine fun bag attack!

If you’re not in the U.S. you might not be able to watch the stream so I’ll keep the spoiler discussion behind the tag. Suffice it say, I’m really happy Hulu has this season and I’m so excited to see more!

Unofficial SGW: Colonials vs. the Empire

Monday, December 3rd, 2007 at 11:28 pm by Jami

I know I’ve been slacking on the Super Geek Wars (SGW), so reader Kevin Bahrt sent me this:

It’s the Colonial army from Battlestar Galactica versus the Empire from Star Wars. Clearly, who ever did this has put much more time and effort into his ultimate battle than I have with my sketches. Oh wells.

I think a better match up would be the Cylons versus the Empire. Both have seemingly inexhaustible supplies of pilots to throw at each other. Both have giant, monolithic ships with hoards of fighters on board. Both are really ill tempered. Pitting Galactica against a fleet of Star Destroyers is a bit unfair. Although the pilots of the Galactica are much better than the Empire’s clone troops, there are so many more clones than there are Colonial pilots. Eventually, they’ll run out and the Empire will claim another victory.

How do you guys think these two fleets match up?

Galactica Movie?

Wednesday, June 13th, 2007 at 12:41 pm by Jami

Ron Moore and David Eick may be the producers of the current Battlestar Galactica, but if they want to do a feature film, they’ll have to get the permission of the original creator, Glen Larson. Apparently, Larson has never fully endorsed the new series and still exerts some measure of control of the franchise. Sci Fi Channel had to alter its plans for a direct-to-DVD Galactica featuring the Pegasus and instead will air it as two stand alone episodes.

As much as he might not like the current series, Larson can’t deny the fan response. A Galactica movie would certainly give the final season room to possible get to Earth allowing the movie to focus on how the colonists adjust to their new home. Or hot Cylon nookie. Regardless, a Galactica movie would certainly fraking kick some major ass! Hopefully, Larson will give in to fandom and make it so.

So say we all!

If Ya Gotta Go, Go With a Smile

Friday, June 1st, 2007 at 12:50 pm by Jami

Battlestar Galactica ends with Season 4. We’ll get a two-hour special episode in November with all 22 episodes of season 4 kicking off in 2008.

I’m terribly sad to see it go. We’ve been starving for good sci-fi for so long and when we finally get it, it goes away. *sniff* But I think they’ll be going out on a high note. Things have really been building towards this final season and I think it’s going to be a big one.

Gonna have to get started on that DVD box set collection now.

Battlestar Videomaker Toolkit

Wednesday, March 7th, 2007 at 9:42 am by Jami

Don’t talk about Battlestar Galactica much on AZM, but you should know that Audrey and I are very much addicted to the show. I love the fact that we can catch up with On Demand on our cable box. The producers of the show have just released a Battlestar Galactica Videomaker Toolkit to aid fans in creating four minute Galactica movies. You get access to dozens of effects shots and music clips from the show. Upload your videos for the world to see. There are two sample videos up there right now. Executive producer David Eick will choose one video that will air during an episode of Battlestar Galactica! So get your cameras rolling and let us know when you upload so we can pimp you out here at AZM!
