Giren’s Greed for PSP

Wednesday, December 17th, 2008 at 10:26 am by Jami

Ah, Gundam Wednesday! It’s good to be home!

This is a promo video for Gihren No Yabou V (Gihren’s Greed V) which comes out for PSP and PS2 next February (I think). I’ve never played a Gihren no Yabou game, but I have an awesome Dengeki Hobby book featuring custom mobile suit models based on the game including an amazing Red Comet version of good old RX-78. Looks like this new game will feature RX-105 Xi Gundam from Hathaway’s Flash as well as a whole mess of Char’s Counterattack era suits.

So I need to play this. So either someone’s going to have to make a translated version just for me or I’m going to have to kidnap someone to sit next to me and translate while I play. This I command!

Batman Fights Skynet

Thursday, December 11th, 2008 at 12:17 pm by Jami

AZM Ally Kensei Dave sent along the latest trailer for Terminator: Salvation. And from the looks of things, this isn’t the future that John Connor was expecting. From the little snippets of dialog, it seems that mucking back and forth with time travel has made the future much worse than it should be.

If the trailer went by too quikly, io9 has a shot-by-shot breakdown.

Okay, so now I’m all about this. I was more than skeptical when I heard about filling in the gaps between the last movie and the rise of Skynet, but this looks awful damn good. Cylon Akira bikes FTW!

Tekken 6

Thursday, December 11th, 2008 at 11:49 am by Jami

Wow!

Tekken games always make me feel like a complete newb. I’m good for a couple of rounds, but as the fights continue and the AI decides to pour on the awesome, my button mashing jutsu is rendered obsolete. I’ve always loved the animation and design of the fighters in the Tekken games (Eddy Gordo!). I’m just not very good at landing combos or powering up at the right time or not dying after three fights. But I love playing Tekken games. Yoshimitsu is always good for a laugh.

Metallica Uncovers Soviet Plot to Infest America With Zombies

Thursday, December 11th, 2008 at 10:52 am by Jami

Angry Zen Minion Tyler Anderson sent along Metallica’s latest video for “All Nightmare Long.”

It has zombies.

And robots.

I… don’t hate this. The video is freaking awesome! Such a great blend of CG, propaganda style animation, and live action footage. I got so wrapped up in the video that I stopped paying attention to the music. I wasn’t all that impressed with the song, itself. But paired with the video, now every time I hear it visions of the great Soviet zombie hoards will dance in my head.

Well played, Metallica. Well played.

SNL Explains Crunchy Pants

Tuesday, December 9th, 2008 at 11:18 am by Jami

Every once in a while someone will ask me what “crunchy pants” refers to. Well, this little SNL Digital Short aptly explains the phenomenon with the song “Jizz In My Pants.” Enjoy!

Batman Goes to Arkham

Tuesday, December 9th, 2008 at 10:30 am by Jami

Ackshully, we’re a little light on Toku news. So it’s back to the regular insanity!

Here’s a trailer for Batman: Arkham Asylum sent along by Angry Zen Minion Tyler Anderson. Since it’s coming out for the 360 and PS3, I’m going to assume that these cut scenes are all rendered with the game engine because that’s what we expect from our next generation. I love Killer Croc’s design. How does Batman ever beat a monster like that? Apparently, Joker has gotten loose in Arkham and is leading a prisoner revolt. And you, as Bats, get to go in an “negotiate” with the inmates. I suspect negotiating includes much ass kicking. Looks quite good. I hope they blend in some detective type game play along with the ass kicking.

Henshin Justice Interviews Nathan Long, Head Writer For Kamen Rider Dragon Knight

Tuesday, December 9th, 2008 at 10:18 am by Jami

HJU vs. Nathan Long

The fine folk of Henshin Justice scored an exclusive interview with Nathan Long, head writer of Kamen Rider Dragon Knight. You may remember Long from such classics as 1994’s The Guyver: Dark Hero. I never actually saw that one or the first one for that matter. As it turns out, Long met director Steve Wang and Guyver 2 was their first project together. Years later, Wang called up Long to ask if he’d be interested in working on a new show. Long signed on and Kamen Rider Dragon Knight was go!

So go on over and check out the interview. Dragon Knight comes to the CW in the new year.

Kamen Rider Dragon Knight Trailer

Tuesday, December 9th, 2008 at 9:59 am by Jami

It’s Tokusatsu Tuesday!

Oh, the pants! SO CRUNCHY!

That thirty second promo for Kamen Rider Dragon Knight makes me all tingly. And if you thought that shit was good, check out this extended trailer for the series. Looks like they’re doing more than just repurposing Ryuki footage.

2009 is going to be a great year for American Tokusatsu!

Steven Seagal, COCKPUNCHER!

Monday, December 8th, 2008 at 4:34 pm by Jami

EPIC. WIN.

God, I so wish this was a real movie that was coming out and not a fake trailer for The Onion Movie. I would watch an entire movie where Steven Seagal just punches dudes in the cock. Of course, the final boss would either be a lady or a pre-op transvestite or something.

2008 Webcomic Holiday Postcard Fundraiser

Monday, December 8th, 2008 at 1:08 pm by Jami

2008 Webcomics Fundraiser

It’s the third annual Webcomic Holiday Postcard Fundraiser! Oooh lookie, we even have our very own website. Each year, Shawn Handyside gathers a small group of webcomic artists to create a postcard set to be sold for the holidays. 100% of the proceeds go to Child’s Play, Penny Arcade’s children’s charity. I was happy to participate in last year’s set. This year’s art ninja are Vinson "Bleedman" Ngo, Yuko Ota, Jen Brazas, Shawn Handyside, and Scott Ramsoomair. Each set comes with 25 cards, 5 of each design, for $16. You can also pick up the previous set with all seven designs for $13.

Thanks for setting this up, Shawn. This is a great holiday tradition that I’m proud to be a part of.
