Musha Gundam Wants a Pony For X-Mas

Wednesday, November 12th, 2008 at 10:36 am by Jami

Musha Gundam has a horsie!

DO WANT!

This awesome custom Master Grade Musha is an entry in Singapore’s Bandai Action Kit Universal Cup 2008. Out There has a bunch of photos of the other entries, but by far, my favorite is this Musha Gundam. If this came as a full kit I would totally mess all over myself!

Char Clone Can Has a Gundam

Wednesday, November 12th, 2008 at 10:11 am by Jami

HG Ahead

Gotta be honest, I’m not feeling Char Clone’s mobile suit from Duberu-Oh, although it does kind of match his mask. Srsly, someone beat that MS in the head with an ugly stick. Also, I don’t like the name. This is the 1/144 High Grade Ahead Bushido custom. When you compare this travesty to the UC Char Clone’s Sinanju, you kinda wonder why they let anyone beside Katoki Hajime design enemy suits.

Live Action Ninja Scroll Defies Logic

Monday, November 10th, 2008 at 9:52 am by Jami

Ninja Scroll

AZM Ally Kensei Dave writes in with the horrifying news that Warner Brothers has acquired the rights to make a live action Ninja Scroll. The script will be written by Alex Tse who wrote the screen play for Watchmen. Leonardo DiCarprio’s production company Appian Way will co-produce the film with Mad House.

I suspect that the execs who approved this acquisition never ever saw Ninja Scroll. This thing would have to be rated XXX or at least NC-17 to do it right. It’s ninja porn. Blades, blood, and boobs. If any of them had seen Ninja Scroll they would have thrown Leo out on his ass. This is a really bad idea. Honestly, there’s not much plot to Ninja Scroll. Without the hyper violence and copious boobage, it’s not too compelling a tale. Jubei saves girl made of poison. Jubei ignores girl made of poison. Girl made of poison falls in love with Jubei. Girl made of poison dies.

Okay, so that actually sounds pretty interesting. But I still think this is a bad idea. If the anime was shown in theaters, there’s no way a simple R rating would cover the insanity. Translating that into live action would be completely balls crazy.

Hell with it, let’s play the casting game. Who would you like to see as Jubei and Kagero?

Champions

Thursday, November 6th, 2008 at 11:33 am by Jami

AZM Ally Mike Dent sent along this trailer for Champions. Wow. Fucking awesome!

Oh, but it gets better. Our hero enters a martial arts tourney to represent China in an exhibition at the Olympic Games in order to win the heart of the woman of his dreams who just happens to be a national sprinting champion.

It’s like I always say, the way to a woman’s heart is through ultimate kung fu fighting!

It opens this month in China. I hope someone grabs it up for international distribution because this is just too awesome to miss.

Nobody Beats The Drum

Dutch electronica group Nobody Beats the Drum is kind of fucking awesome. This is the video for their track “The Drum” and the only thing that could be possibly better is if Nobody Beats the Drum shared the stage with Peelander Z! I would just explode in a huge geek-gasm. Looks like their upcoming tour dates are all in Europe so we’ll have to scour the internets for more of their brand of awesomeness. Wonder how hard it would be to get them to play an Art Fight.

France Has Awesome Demon Ninjas!

Tuesday, November 4th, 2008 at 11:39 am by Jami

According to AZM Ally Mike Dent, this is a trailer for the latest episode of Damned Next, a French Tokusatsu fan series. You see, France loves Tokusastsu much more than we do as evidenced by France Five.

Back to Damned Next. According to Mike, our hero is a resurrected Dark Mage with a demon locked inside him. Should he use up too much of his magic, the demon would take over his body and go all Super Sayajin 3 on a mother fucker which really sucks because when fighting demons from the nethers, you kinda need some magic. Turns out that some of the France Five folks are involved in this show as well.

Win! Who knew France had awesome demon ninjas?

Youmacon Crisis!

Tuesday, November 4th, 2008 at 10:01 am by Jami

Budding fan film director and AZM Ally Mike Dent went to Youmacon 2008 to grab some montage footage for Henshin Justice. The project was abandoned so he decided to turn the footage into an awesome trailer of con madness! Is that an army of Dan Hibikis I see? There will be more footage shot locally to sort of tie it all together. Can’t wait to see what the final looks like.

Japanese Man Wants to Marry Comic Book Lady

Friday, October 31st, 2008 at 10:38 am by Jami

Zombie Spidey Wedding

Taichi Takashita loves comics way more than you ever will. He’s petitioning the government to make it legal for him to marry cartoon characters. Says Takashita:

I am no longer interested in three dimensions. I would even like to become a resident of the two-dimensional world. However, that seems impossible with present-day technology. Therefore, at the very least, would it be possible to legally authorise marriage with a two-dimensional character?

In his first week, he’s already gathered 1000 signatures.

I blame Frank Cho for drawing impossibly hawt womens. Oh, and Adam Hughes.

Johnny Sokko and His GIANT ROBO!

Wednesday, October 29th, 2008 at 10:11 am by Jami

Johnny Sokko and GIANT ROBO

This isn’t exactly Gundam, but it has a boy and a giant freaking robot so it’s good enough for Gundam Wednesday! Besides, it’s GIANT ROBO!

The 70’s were awesome. Earth, Wind, and Fire was topping the charts. I was born. And the live action tokusatsu version of Giant Robo was dubbed into American and released as Johnny Sokko and His Flying Robot! And now, through the magic of the internets, you can watch the first ten episodes of the American dub of Giant Robo thanks to Hulu. Here’s the first episode.

If Audrey and I have a boy child, I’m going to sneak in and tell the doctors we want to name him Johnny Sokko Noguchi while she’s still conked out and medded up. The just screams hot blooded Japanese Toku justice! Seriously, I love Hulu for delivering such awesome. The 26 episode series is out on DVD in Japan, but this is probably as close as we’re going to get to a domestic release of the show. I’m usually a subtitle snob, but in this case, I’m really enjoying the classic dubbing.

Who Takes It? Who’s Gundam Reigns Supreme? It’s Gundam Vs. Gundam!

Wednesday, October 29th, 2008 at 9:11 am by Jami

Wow. If Gundam Musou 2 wasn’t coming soon, I would totally buy a PSP just for this game. You heard me! Crazy things happen on Gundam Wednesday! As it is, I might just have to “borrow” my brother’s next time I visit him. I believe Gundam vs. Gundam was an arcade game before they brought it to PSP which just proves that Japan wins because one, they still have arcades; and two, those arcades are filled with GUNDAM!
