DMX Guides Santa’s Sleigh

I’m usually a humbug about Christmas music because if you have an easy listening radio station anywhere near your town, from before Thanksgiving to the end of December, that station is blasting 24/7 Christmas music, even during Delilah’s broadcast where she gives helpful advice to long lost lovers. However, this is DMX singing “Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer” which is a perfect mix of thuggery and awesomeness. I would really love to see him narrate the movie as the snowman. If this should make its way to one of those radio stations that feels the need to remind all of its listeners that Christmas is the loudest holiday ever, all shall be forgiven.

Aaninka Goes Gangnam Style

There are countless dance covers of PSY’s “Gangnam Style” from flash mobs to people doing shot-for-shot remakes of the video. I see a whole mess of them because I love this song so much but I try to only post ones that truly take it to the next level. And I really think that the Aaninka dance troupe from Cote D’Ivoire makes Gangnam Style their own.

Nope! Still not tired of it!!

Lupe Fiasco Calls Out the “Bitch” Culture in Rap

Man, this is a rough song. In “Bitch Bad,” Lupe Fiasco likens artists like Lil Wayne and Nicki Minaj to minstrel blackface entertainers who have basically come to define the current urban contemporary scene. I think it’s an important message and a call for the industry to do better. Sadly, conscious rap rarely gets regular airplay. But in two months, this video has already raked up over 2 million YouTube views.

It really seems like this is meant more for his peers in the industry than the general listening public. I know I’m listening, but are they?

David Lo Pan Style

Apparently, John Carpenter gets asked a lot of questions about doing a Big Trouble in Little China sequel (YES PLEASE). This year’s Screamfest in LA was no different. But instead of doing a Big Trouble Q&A, John Carpenter presented this amazing “Gangnam Style” parody, David Lo Pan Style.

If you haven’t seen Big Trouble in Little China, this probably won’t do anything for you. But for the rest of us, Just remember what ol’ Jack Burton does when the earth quakes, and the poison arrows fall from the sky, and the pillars of Heaven shake. Yeah, Jack Burton just looks that big ol’ storm right square in the eye and he says, “David Lo Pan style!”

Gangnam Style, Helping Parents Feed Their Kids Since 2012

It’s a scientific fact that food tastes better with a soundtrack. We forget this when we get older, but this toddler refuses to eat anything unless the most epic song is playing.

Nope, still not tired of it!

Kamen Rider Fourze’s JK Sings in the Macross Musical

Whenever I hear of Broadway turning a cartoon into a musical, I always raise an eyebrow. Sure, The Lion King musical has won all sorts of awards for its unique costuming and masterful interpretation of the source material. But when things like Shrek get Broadwayed, I cannot mask my patent-pending “WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK” face. It is this exact same face that I wear right now as I type the following:

There is a Macross musical. Here is the preview.

I don’t recognize any of the songs (“Do You Remember Love” anyone? Now granted, my Macross fandom isn’t as strong as my Gundam so I might be missing some things here). I also don’t see any Veritechs. So I kind of question what this has to do with Macross. It does feature JK from Kamen Rider Fourze with some kind of weird scarring on his neck. That’s kind of cool. Didn’t know he could sing. Buuuuuut… I guess this is for really big fans of Macross. Kind of wish there were dancers dressed as Veritechs running around.

Power Rangers Samurai Go to the Wub Wub Machine

Power Rangers Samurai gets a new season and to celebrate, they bust out some tasty moves in the wub wub machine. So that’s a thing. I guess.
