Do You Know the Way to San Jose

Sometimes I go places. When I remember to bring my laptop, you’ll hear about me travels here.
Off to see Sausalito! I’ll check back in latah.
San Francisco is very walkable. You can get to most of the places you want to go on foot. I spent a good portion of yesterday getting my walk on.
I intended to spend a lot of time at the Metreon geeking out and playing games. Turns out that the arcade that I saw three or four years ago when I first visited the Metreon is no longer open. Great. Instead, I wandered around Market Street for a few hours popping in to random stores here and there.
I met up with Audrey for burritos and some sun. We walked back to the hotel to drop off some of her stuff and take a short nap. Then it was time for her afternoon sessions so I continued my wanderings.
I found the Apple Store and was quite happy to rest a bit while the Mac Genius in the Mac Theater demonstrated why CS3 kicks so much ass. There’s an awesome toy/comic store down Market Street that has a gigantic selection of new and vintage toys and a decent enough selection of comics. Like a moth to light, I also ventured into the San Francisco Centre, a gigantic multi-story mall filled with nothing but clothing shops. You only got one body, how many clothes do you really fucking need?
I was about to fall over from walking exhaustion when Audrey’s sessions ended. She came out to meet me and after resting for a bit, we headed on to Japan Town for some much needed dinner. After a brisk mile and some change walk, we sat down a Mifune for some soba and udon. Audrey ordered some green tea soba and a sushi appetizer and I apparently ordered the biggest tray of tempura, udon, and sushi ever! The thing took up my entire half of the table!
A little more window shopping and it was time to head home for some much needed vegging out.
Oi! Been blogging for two hours. Time to do some thank you cards. Yeah, still gotta do some work on vacation.
Whoohoo! I’m blogging from a hotel in gorgeous San Francisco while my lady is at the American Thoracic Society conference. She’s presenting a poster and I came along for a short vacation! The hotel made the mistake of giving us teh free wireless interwebs so I’m a whoring it like a mad man.
We got in yesterday afternoon and met up with my aunt and uncle who live in the city. They took us around for a nice afternoon drive around SF. The view of the city from Twin Peaks is amazing (I’ll post some pics when I get back). We picked up my grandparents and they took us out to this amazing Italian restaurant that had the best jumbo prawns risotto I have ever had. Infinite garlic! YUMMM!! Then it was back to the hotel for sleepy time.
I’m lazing about in the hotel right now poking through the internets for silly things. I’m about to head out and hang out at the Metreon for a good long while, meet up with Audrey for some lunch, and then whatever else I can find. I think the Apple store is close by.
Okay then, time to get out and see the city!
