Legend of Korra Firefight

Legend of Korra can’t come soon enough. Leaked clips of footage from the first episode are popping up all over the place and disappearing just as quickly so I don’t know how long this one will be available. But if you head on over to A Dry Just End, you can see Korra doing some fire bending and a brief cameo from one of the original cast.

Oh man, this is so awesome. And it makes the live action adaptation so much less painful.

Dragon Age: Redemption, Episode 2

Episode 2 of Dragon Age: Redemption is out and I think I’m getting more of what’s going on. This one showed off a little more of the dry wit and humor we’ve come to expect from Felicia Day. I like the sarcastic, almost flirty banter between Tallis and other dude who is too up tight to be believed. Looking forward to seeing where it’s all headed.

Dragon Age Web Series, Redemption, Episode 1

I don’t know shit about Dragon Age so I have no idea what’s going on in this new web series written and starring Felicia Day. It’s pretty slick looking and I love that I get to see it for free on the interwebs. The production values are almost cinematic in quality. Unfortunately, a lot of this went over my head. I know Felicia is a saucy elf with a penchant for sharp, slicey things which is always a yay. Also, her elf warrior outfit features much elf cleavage which I’d probably complain about if it were a comic, but the boobs seem to stay where they need to. It works. But I fear this is for Dragon Age fans only. I’ll give it a go and probably watch the entire run because, like I said, it looks fucking awesome. I guess I’ll just have to use my friend Wikipedia to suss out what the fuck is goings on.

Hope You Like Some CG With Your Jet Li Chop Socky

AZM Ally Kensei Dave sent along these trailers for Jet Li’s latest, The Sorcerer And The White Snake, which is based on a Chinese folk tale, the Legend of the White Snake. It’s a classic love story. Young scholar falls in love with a gorgeous woman. Woman turns out to be a thousand year old White Snake in human form. Monk steps in to restore nature’s balance and stop the marriage. You know, classic love story. Actually, it sounds a bit specist. Why can’t a man love a snake?

Anyway, it looks like the entire thing is shot in a green screen studio. I’m sure it will look damn impressive on the big screen when it opens today in Hong Kong. And I’m damn sure I would pay full price to see it in a theater over here. But on my little computer screen, it seems way too CG dependent. Whatever, I still want to see it!

Conan The Barbarian, Head Will Roll in Your Fucking Popcorn

NSFW do to bare breasts, blood, and extensive use of the word “fuck.” Click when your boss is not in the room.

I know I’ve railed against remakes, reimagining, and sequels forever and a fucking day, but I’ve kinda wanted to see this new Conan ever since the first teasers came out. With this new trailer, I’m pretty well sold. Of course, it looks like they show you the whole fucking thing, but whatever. I don’t really ask much in terms of plot from my Conan movies! If there be swords and body parts flying, I’m in.

What’s Short and Blue and Destroys My Faith in Movies?

According to Box Office Mojo, The Smurfs tied with Cowboys & Aliens this past weekend for the number one slot. Both movies raked in $36.2 million. On the one hand, it’s pretty awesome that a movie with such a silly title as Cowboys & Aliens can kick out Harry Potter and Captain America for a top slot. It’s a new franchise without a lot of name recognition and although it has some pretty big star power, it’s something new that Hollywood took a chance on. Yeah, I know it’s a comic, but I never heard of it until the movie. So I consider it something new and awesome. More new things need to be made.

On the other hand, the fact that The Smurfs also kicked out Harry Potter and Captain American from the top slots is a clear indication that Hollywood’s recycling program brings home the bacon. Both of this weekend’s number one films probably had significant effect budgets. But I suspect that Cowboys & Aliens was more expensive to make. This means that for less money, Hollywood succeeded with a recycled property that only people in their thirties and above remember watching as kids. Which, to a big Hollywood exec who only gives a shit about the bottom line, may signal that they are heading in the right direction with these remakes, rebirths, remixes, redo, re everything.

For the rest of us means that the summers are going to be full of stuff we’ve seen before for longer than I’d expected. I mean, I was kinda hoping that the remix thing would die down after a few years but it seems to be going stronger than ever.

Harry Potter Fans, This Drink’s For You

Drunk Harry Potter puns FTW!!! And now I can hear my Super Art Fight cohort Dern kicking himself for not using some of these in his comic.
